One of the major ongoing projects of American Studies is the construction of a fully searchable senior thesis archive through Digital Georgetown which would make accessible the theses of American Studies students. The goal of such an archive would be to allow the community to refer back to the work being done by seniors over the years, but would also enable the committed research performed by American Studies seniors their final year to be accessed by not only other students at Georgetown but students all over the world. One of the major goals of the senior thesis is the creation of a piece of work that actively contributes to existing arguments in an academic area, and making that work available would be an important component. Further, access of an archive would allow students in the process of writing their theses to read and engage with the work done by their peers. We are looking forward to getting the Class of 2013’s theses into the archive first during the Fall 2013 semester.
